Over the years, slimming and losing weight has become big business. With new slimming crazes and fad diets being created, so many different trends may leave you confused and unsure about the best way to lose weight.

Most diets tend to be unbalanced and designed to be used only for a short period of time, they temporarily fool the body and hey presto, weight loss is achieved! But as soon as ‘normal’ eating commences, most people find they put weight back on, and some more so than when they first started.


Losing weight is not rocket science

The only way to effectively lose weight is to reduce your calorific intake (the amount you eat) and increase your calorific expenditure (the amount of exercise you do or the amount of calories you burn).

But we must change our eating habits by choosing healthier options if we are to succeed in losing weight.
Each of us needs a certain amount of calories every day just to survive and stay alive, this is known as our BMR (basal metabolic rate). Depending on how active we are determines how many extra calories on top of our BMR we need.
